Where does what you know live when you change jobs?

Usually in a CV nobody checks and a certificate in a drawer. In ProcesOS it lives in your own workspace: a tree of what you can do, with the credentials and quests behind it.

The full drawing needs a wider screen and WebGL. The list says everything the drawing would.

What the words mean

  • In progress
  • Active
  • Needs attention
  • Mastered

Mastered is a word for an active capability on a high family level. It opens nothing and closes nothing.

An example tree, drawn from the families and definitions this instance ships. It holds nobody's data.

Your first steps

What happens to what you already know once you sign up? Here is the path a freelancer walks, from her first quest to a capability her own process uses.

  1. Sign up

Your personal workspace is ready at once, with a first quest of five steps.

  2. Open your journey

The person tree is drawn in full, every branch in place before anything on it is yours.

  3. Your next step

On an empty tree, your journey suggests where to begin.

  4. Import your CV

Upload your CV or a Europass export. The claims it contains come back for you to confirm.

  5. Confirm and file

Confirm a certificate and file it under the family it belongs to.

  6. Adopt a capability

Take on a capability and name the planner you use for it. The planner is recorded as your own statement.

  7. Ask a university

Submit the certificate to a university with your consent. After its review your claim counts as validated, and you are told.

  8. Draw your week

Draw a process in your workspace that uses the capability. Its card then names the process.

Who believes your CV without calling anyone?

Import your Europass CV and confirm each certificate it finds. Send one to a university for review, and its confirmation raises how far others can trust the claim.

Not built yet Confirmed credentials will travel with you in the European digital identity wallet.

See how learning becomes a record

What are you allowed to take on, and what does it pay?

A quest is a task with a clear end and evidence at that end. Your dashboard lists the ones open to you, and each one you finish pays experience points.

Not built yet Quests will reach you on your phone, in the POLIS app.

Where does what you learned go when the course ends?

Into your tree. A short interview asks what you already do and adds it there. An Academy course ends in a certificate you keep.

Not built yet Your next step on the tree will name the course that leads to it.

Open the Academy

How do you start something without founding a company first?

The wizard asks what you are starting and gives the new workspace its roles and its first capabilities.

Not built yet A team will start straight from a capability on your tree.

Start a workspace

Who in the flat can cook, and with what?

The interview asks whether you share a kitchen. If you do, it starts a household workspace for the people you live with.

Not built yet What the household owns will count toward what each of you can do.

How do you take part in what others decide?

Ask to join a workspace, vote on a poll, take up a mandate. Each step leaves a record you can point to later.

Not built yet A team you join will keep its own calendar of meetings.

What happens to the money when you do the work?

When a quest carries a bounty, the money is locked the moment the quest is posted. Neither side has to trust the other first.

Not built yet The payout will be released once a person has confirmed the work.

How do others know that a claim about you holds?

Every claim says how far it has been checked: stated by you, or confirmed by someone who can vouch for it. The FAIR register shows the method behind every passport it lists.

Not built yet Requests to see your data will follow a published procedure, and every access will be on the record.

What do you own after a year of contributing?

Experience points, badges and certificates, each tied to the work behind it. A course certificate can be recorded on the Cardano blockchain, where it outlasts any one platform.

Not built yet These records will be the tokens of the Universal Capability Economy (UCE), the economy that grows around the Universal Capability Exchange.

Who tells you what is next, and what it counts towards?

POLIS is the ProcesOS app for your phone. You sign in on your own instance's page, and the app never sees your password.

  1. Today: your quests and your experience

Your first quest, your open tasks and your active quests on one screen, with the experience points they earned.

  2. Today: your inbox and your journey

Notifications arrive as push where your instance sends them. Your journey and your credentials come along.

  3. Not built yet

Coming: vote, fulfil and level up from your phone

POLIS becomes the place where you meet the economy around what you can do.

POLIS is in testing and has no store release yet. What it shows comes from the instance you signed in to.

What does a week here look like?

Lena, freelancer: a client asks for proof

Lena imports her Europass CV and confirms the certificates it finds, each on a branch of her tree. She sends one to her university, which confirms it, and the claim now counts as checked. Then she draws the process of her week, and her capability shows where it is used.

Ben, resident: the council approves a working group

Ben votes on the council's poll, and the mayor founds the team the poll decided on. Ben asks to join through the invitation link. When he is seated in his first lane, his role in a process, its credential sends him a qualifying quest.

Start with what you can already do

Your own workspace costs nothing. Your tree, your credentials and your quests are there from the first day.
